James is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, with his career as an actor, writer and director taking him around Australia and the world. His theatre credits include Chicago (NAMCO), Rent (QPAC/MWE), Little Shop of Horrors (Tivoli Theatre), Cabaret (HOTA), Bare (Understudy Productions), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Harvest Rain Theatre Company), the Australian premiere of Titanic at Sydney’s Theatre Royal (Seabiscuit Productions) and one of his favourite shows, Jekyll and Hyde (IHP/Arts Centre Gold Coast) opposite the late Rob Guest.

He has toured with Nickelodeon, The Wiggles and Smurfs Live, as well as performing at Tokyo Disneyland, Universal Studios Japan, the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols on Brisbane’s River Stage and Cunard’s Queen Victoria. James returns to Australia after two years performing the role of Harry Bright in Mamma Mia (Little Star/RCCL) and is represented by T&E Management.
